Engraving can give a natural stone product a more personal identity. For a retail brand, hotel project or corporate collection, a name, mark or simple pattern can become part of the object itself.
The result depends on more than the artwork. Stone selection, the size of the design and the surface finish all affect how clearly the engraving appears.
Begin with the Artwork
Provide the final artwork in a clear, editable format whenever possible. Confirm its exact wording, spelling, proportions and position on the product. Fine lines and small lettering should be reviewed carefully at the intended production size.
If you have a reference photograph, include measurements as well. The same design can look very different on a small decorative box and a large stone tray.
Consider the Stone Surface
Natural stone has its own color, pattern and texture. These characteristics may change the visual contrast of an engraved design from one piece to another. When selecting a stone, discuss the appearance you want and the level of natural variation acceptable for the collection.
For stones with visible pores, the sample is especially useful for assessing how the design reads on the finished surface.
Approve a Physical Sample
Before confirming a larger order, review the engraving on an actual product or material sample. Check the placement, line clarity, depth, finish and overall balance. Record the approved artwork and specifications so they can be used as the production reference.
